EACA was formed with the intention of bringing together the East African community in order to strengthen relationships and support at-risk young people. Many of our community members noticed that violence among our young people was increasing, and that youth gangs were growing in popularity.  It was also a concern that East African young people were becoming more disconnected from their parents and culture, especially as they made the United States their permanent home.
