History

EACA, founded in 2007, was created with the intention of bringing together the East African community in order to strengthen relationships and support at-risk young people.
Many of our community members noticed that violence among our young people was increasing, and that youth gangs were growing in popularity.  It was also a concern that East African young people were becoming more disconnected from their parents and culture, especially as they made the United States their permanent home.
The EACA was founded by Hagos Wolde and members from the Ethiopian community in the Greater Boston region.  We forged, and continue to build, an excellent partnership with the Area 4 Youth Center in Cambridge.
